Retain More of What You Learn

Posted on June 22, 2011 by Ted

How to Retain What You Have Learned

Learning new things is all very well, but whether or not we learn
through reading, attending a course or through any other means,
retaining information can sometimes be a struggle. One of the most
effective ways to do so, however, is by teaching someone else what you
yourself have been taught.

Of course, teaching others does not have to be done in any kind of
formal way. In the case of work-related learning, for example, you
might choose to pass on your new-found knowledge either to a
subordinate as part of informal on-the-job training or to a colleague
or group of colleagues in the form of an informal discussion. If your
learning is non-work-related, you might simply go home and talk to your
partner or children about the things that you have been taught.

Another great way to pass on knowledge in order to retain it, as well
as to help others, is by sharing it via a blog or podcast. This is
also a superb method of building your professional resume and setting
yourself up as an expert in your field, especially if the information
relates to your career.

Whichever method you choose, though, the mere act of putting your new
knowledge into your own words and presenting it to others will help to
make it stick.

Egocentric email

Posted on June 7, 2011 by Ted

Are your e-mails egocentric? Researchers say the answer is probably
yes.

emailmastery1-

Email Mastery by Ted Peterson

New research shows that when most people communicate via e-mail,
they're not thinking about how the other person will process the
information, but are communicating egocentrically.

According to the article "Think your e-mails are clear? Maybe not," by
Jonathan Silverstein on the ABCNews Web site, that means that people
are approaching the information from how they think they would sound to
themselves.

Justin Kruger, an associate professor at NYU, and Nicholas Eply, an
associate professor at the University of Chicago, are the authors of a
paper on the subject recently published in the Journal of Personality
and Social Psychology that says people are not as good at expressing
themselves and their emotions via e-mail as they think they are.

The world of e-mail communication is chock full of horror stories of
misunderstandings, and the sometimes tarnished reputations that result
from miscommunications and misinterpretations.

One problem, Kruger says, is that it's very hard to get beyond our own
perspectives and realize how impoverished our communications can be for
other parties. Kruger recommends that e-mail users use caution, both in
the way they construct their communications and in how they interpret
what they receive.

These are problems that I see frequently with email marketing. Most
marketers are not thinking of their prospects and customers but instead
of their next sale. On a recent tele-conference call I shared the 7
Biggest Mistakes Marketers Make that are Killing their email
Campaigns. You can listen to the reply here to make sure you are not
making these deadly mistakes too.

I also wrote a email marketing guide titled, "email Mastery-MASTERING
the Secrets to Creating a Profitable email!"

The ebook covers:
* Best Subject Lines that will get your email Opened!
* How to Build a Huge List of Ravenous Buyers!
* 7 Ways to Make sure you are Delivering Great Content!
* Using Direct Mail Formula to boost Sales!

And Much More! You can check it out here if you want to turn your

Are You Hiring You

Posted on May 31, 2011 by Ted

prod1-

Increase Your Productivity

Are You Hiring You???

It's amazing how much we can get done the day before vacation!

Zig Ziglar talks about this...Pretend that everyday is the day before
vacation and you'll be more productive!

When I'm consulting someone who is struggling with their business it
boils down to two things. Either they have a sub-par product/service
or they are not handling their time well.

You can have the greatest product out there but if you're not using
your time wisely it won't work for long. You will burn out or run out
of time.

So I thought I'd share some thoughts on time management.

As entrepreneurs, this is a common problem. Just because we work for
ourselves doesn't mean that we're good at it. We need to discipline
ourselves just as if we were our own employee!

Would you hire you? Scary thought, yes?

Here are a couple of great tips to increase your daily productivity!

First one is your environment! This is increasingly important to me.
My work area MUST be conducive to work. That means my home office, my
car, my stage.

I make sure that each of these places has what I need and that they are
comfortable so that I want to work.

Here is an example from my office.

I know exactly where everything is and what I use on a daily basis is
within arm's reach.

My chair is comfortable. I have Rush cd's nearby to listen to. Not
only is Rush the greatest band ever listening to them pumps me up. I
try to work at the pace of the music!

There is a picture of the kids! My inspiration! And there is a model
of a boat. One of my goals is to buy a fishing boat!

So, when I wake-up, I WANT to go to work. My office is cool hang-out.

Next tip...Reducing Interruptions!

It's the NUMBER ONE time management trap.

We have to be relentless with our time. It's the one thing we have
that can never be replaced. When someone takes a minute from you it's
gone forever.

So who's stealing your time?

I used to answer the phone every time it rang hoping to book another
show! My theory was that if I don't take their call they will book the
next guy.

My marketing mentor, Eric Paul told me that was a heck of way to live.
Worrying about answering the phone. Same problem with email. I'd
check email like 50 times a day!

Finally Eric said just don't answer it! That scared the Hell out of
me! But I listened. Since then my productivity has doubled!

It's even harder now with smart phones. You make calls while texting,
checking email and posting to twitter. Unplug!

I'm not saying never do this. But you need to control the time you are
spending here.

I never answer the phone. I call people and clients back. I only
spend time on the phone when scheduled.

I check my email about 3-4 times a day.

I try to automate postings on twitter and facebook. I spend some time
on facebook. Never more than an hour to build a relationship with
someone.

Be relentless with your time. You will love the results!

$3000 in 3 Days Challenge

Posted on May 25, 2011 by Ted
Tim2-

My Friend Tim David

Hey...

A friend of mine who is a very well known Mind-Reader was recently
challenged to make $3000 in 3 Days and is asking for any advice on how
to accomplish his goal...

After thinking about it here was my first gut level response...Cold
Calling!

As internet marketers we sometimes forget about things like picking up
the phone and just calling someone...It's easier to just send an email
of text...Many times we over look the phone...

So with that in mind here are few tips on Cold Calling!
* Put together Target List of Prospects using your network, friends,
Yellow Pages, Past and Present customers, newspapers and google!
* Write a Killer Sales Script that focuses on your prospects needs
and desires! You need to create an offer that is relevant to your
prospects wants needs and desires! You sales script also needs to
address any objections they may have about your offer...This is
critical!
* Commit to making X number of calls a day! Then do it no mater what
it takes!
* Have a follow-up system in place! Whether your going to call them
back...Put them into an email sequence, set an appointment or mail
them additional info. You need to do this and follow
through...Your follow-up system should include multiple steps and
you should be doing everything you can to nurture the relationship!
* Rehearse your script in front of a mirror or on camera so you look
and sound natural! This is one of things that will separates the
winners from the looser! Put the time and effort into it and you
will see the kind of results you are looking for!
* Monitor your results and make changes! As you go along keep track
of the number of calls you make (call journal?) and what the
results were...Keep track of any new objections...Tweak your script
as needed!

This is just one idea to help out my friend Tim...If you would like to
help Tim too you can see a wealth of great magic and mind-reading
materials he is offering at tinyurl/3vllafh Separately these
would cost over a hundred of dollars but for a very limited time Tim
David is making them available for just $30...

So check it out if you have any interest in magic and
mind-reading...Don't forget Magic is an awesome ice breaker when your
out there Networking! Here's the link again tinyurl/3vllafh

If you have any ideas on how my friend Tim can accomplish his goal of
making $3000 in just 3 Days please share them here in the comments
section! Would love to see your input!

Thanks for all your help and support!

Convert More Web Leads

Posted on May 17, 2011 by Ted
Ted Peterson-

Ted Peterson

In the B2C environment, most customers tend to
do a bit of online research before actually placing
an order, and the same is equally true, if not more
so, with B2B customers.

What this means is that even if your company uses marketing automation
tools that allow you to identify potential customers and provide you
with insight into the types of goods or services that they are
interested in, if you don't time your follow-up just right, you could
risk either scaring them off or letting the lead go cold.

Much in the same way that Mrs. X might want to check with her husband
before ordering the latest laborsaving device online, those who work in
procurement often have to seek approval before placing an order, even
if the value of the order isn't huge. Calling a B2B prospect within a
few hours of the prospect's visit to your website, therefore, is
unlikely to generate a sale.

In terms of the best time of day to follow up, experts believe that
after 3:30 p.m. is most productive, because even though customers might
not actually place an order at this time, they are generally more open
to arranging a telephone appointment for the following day. Perhaps
surprisingly, Mondays are the worst day of the week to follow up and
Fridays are far and away the best.

Timing, as they say, is everything, and that is never truer than in the
world of online B2B marketing!

Today I wanted to share a really cool marketing strategy that a lot of

Dan Cathy Gets It....Do You

Posted on March 3, 2011 by Ted

Hi Folks...

Anyone who has ever read "think and Grow Rich" by the master Napoleon
Hill is familiar with the concept of going the extra mile...Some refer
to this as rendering more product or service than was expected by the
customer...

I doubt that many of you reading this are familiar with Dan Cathy
though...I wasn't untill I read about him in the Feb. 2011 issue of
Success magazine...

Dan is the COO of the growing restarant chain Chick-fil-A and let me
tell you, here is a man that understands the concept of going the extra
mile...In fact he is curently working on a book titled "Making 2nd Mile
2nd Nature"...

Here are some of the things Dan credits his success to...

Reaching Out

Dan is committed to reaching his customers whether he is camping out
with them at one of his first 100 events or through social media...He
encourages all his staff to get out and interact with the customers...

Be a Regular in your own Business

Dan makes regular visits to his franchises...And he doesn't hesitate in
doing what employees do...Busing tables or taking out the trash...

Create Experiences

Dan says, "The future is about creating remarkable experiences that
customers will talk about...

I think that this last idea is the key to the vault...Ignore it at your
own peril...

So get a copy of Success Magazine or check out SuccessMagazine for
more great articles and resources!

Ohhhh and I really should not have to say this...But if you haven't
read "Think and Grow Rich" yet you really need too...You can get it

Advise from Brian Tracy

Posted on February 23, 2011 by Ted
BrianTracy

Brian Tracy

Over a month ago I picked up a copy of Home Business Magazine (Dec.
2010) because I love studying the articles and ads in the
magazine...This issue featured Master Speaker/Marketer/Salesman Brian
Tracy which was an unexpected bonus!

Brian Tracy did a short interview that focused on succeeding in the
current economy! One of the key strategies that Brian shares is that the
more active you are the more successful you will become...

Now when Brian talks about being active he is not talking about
spending half the day on twitter or facebook...He is talking about
taking action...

Brian says, "Start the day with a list of things you have to do, and do
the most important things first. Even if you don't get the list done,
you've gotten the most important things done. So many people spend too
much time on things that aren't important. It's the difference between
success and failure."

Later Brian continues to talk about being active... "Activity equals
results. Increase contact with your customers. The more people you
contact, the higher your sales will be...it's astounding how many
business owners are terrified of selling. Salespeople who see the most
people a day are the highest paid regardless of the economy."

If you'd like to read the whole article go to Home Business Magazine
and enjoy....

To your growing success...

What Can You Learn from Reality TV Shows

Posted on January 26, 2011 by Ted

I'm not much of a TV person these days...But I like some
shows...House...Fringe....Sparticus! Mostly I watch online videos or
stuff on Ustream or Live Stream...

Aside from the fact that I don't have alot of time to watch TV (because
I'm working on growing my business) I hate reality TV...Who's bright
idea was it to turn peoples stupidity into entertainment, fame and
fortune....It's a bad idea and I have zero interest in it...

The other night though I was being a partial couch potato because I
have been sick the last week or so and I accidentally clicked on
Tabitha's Salon Takeover and I ended up watching the whole episode...

What took me in was I wanted to look at any marketing advise she
imparted to the salon she took over for a week...Here are a few things
I picked up on right away...

1) I was shocked at the fact that the salon owner was taking no
responsibility for the fact that her business was doing so poorly...I
was amazed that it was running at all...They actually showed a customer
who came in to have their hair done, sat in a chair for 2 hours and
when no one came to take care of her got up and left...Then to make
things even worse one of the salon employees chased her out into the
parking lot demanding payment!

2) The salon owner was trying to use direct mail to bring in new
customers but she had two ladies addressing and stuffing envelopes
right in the salon and she was running 40 different promotions at the
same time! This just goes to show that you can seriously BUTCHER your
direct mail before it ever gets in the mail...On top of that her copy
sucked!

3) Tabitha scrapped all of her direct mail...Actually put it in a
shredder...Much to Tabitha's credit she focused on teaching the owner
to re-position herself and focus on a more affluent target market...The
name of the salon was "A Touch of Elegance" after all but it was far
from elegant...The owner was actually sending out coupons for free hair
for a year!

4) The owner was very emotional invested in what she was trying to do
with her business...Too close to the business to look at things any
other way...This is why it so important for us as business owners to
rely on coaches, mastermind groups and accountability partners that we
can use keep our eyes open to new ideas and strategies that may work
better for us...Growing a business is a lot like raising a child in
that after investing tons of time energy and money you get emotionally
attached too and we start making poor decisions...

At the end of the show the owner of the salon admitted that after 35
years in the business she thought she new everything...This will kill a
business quicker than anything...Nobody knows everything there is to
know about their business...We have to be constantly learning and
growing...That's why Conferences, Local Business Meeting and
information products are a vital part of any business...Don't get left
behind because you think you know it all...

I don't completely agree with Tabitha about the use of direct mail...In
this case she was right because it was being butchered and of no real
use to the the business...But done properly it can greatly increase
your income, referals and customer retention...

Over all, I really enjoyed the program...I'm probably not going to
watch it every week but I'm sure I will catch an episode from time to
time...

Find other ZORGIUM pages using your favorite search engine:

Enter your search keyword(s) and the keyword "zorgium" into the search input field of http://bing.com, http://yahoo.com or http://google.com.

Heads up: There's an ongoing spamdexing of Google searchbot algorithms. Sites that are 'copies of copies' and cloaked sites which include Zorgium keywords presented to search engine crawlers yet garbage content presented to human visitors were hosted on thousands of IP addresses and domains registered immediately after the introduction of Zorgium in November of 2009. The Hostgator/'The Planet'/Softlayer datacenters in Texas seem to be the epicenter of this activity in conjunction with anonymously registered domains of various TLD's but primarily .info domains at Godaddy which, in our opinion, has some sort of connection to the domains of goldmint.in and goldmint.org. Google has begun to notice this and has begun to lower the ranking of these sites and put our original sites back on top of the search rankings. These actions, as far as we can tell, negatively impact the use of the keyword 'zorgium' as a search term and provided little benefit, if any, to the perpetrators.

ZORGIUM note to content providers: If you don't want your page to appear in Zorgium's search abstraction then put an exclusion for "Zorgium" in your web server's robots.txt file.
